Electromagnetic energy

This week we learnt about electricity. Vector visited our school and told us how to keep safe around electricity. So many things work with electricity at the flick of a switch.

We explored static electricity by rubbing a balloon on our shirt and then saw what happened if we kept the balloon to our hair. Funny....it looked like our hair was standing up!

Then our buddies visited us and showed us how we could transfer the energy in the battery, by wrapping a wire tightly around a nail and joining it to the bottom and top of the battery, so that the nail becomes magnetic. Look at Liam and Kaia carefully picking up a paper clip with the magnetic nail.

We explored with magnets and learnt that they have two poles, the poles can repel or attract.

We built a magnetic robot and investigated what it could pick up.

Joseph is so proud of his robot!
